William, Prince of Wales, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, have long faced speculation about the state of their marriage. Among the more telling signs that all may not be well, their frosty interaction at Trooping the Colour 2024 only added fuel to the fire. Rather than silencing the rumors, their body language that day intensified public suspicions — and the moment may continue to cast a shadow over their relationship.
During the Royal Air Force flypast, Kate appeared noticeably more at ease while conversing with her father-in-law, King Charles III, frequently turning toward him and engaging warmly. In contrast, her interactions with William came across as strained and distant.
Though the couple shared a brief exchange during the ceremony, it lacked warmth, and observers couldn’t help but notice the emotional distance. The event should have been a joyful occasion — marking Kate’s much-anticipated return to public life following her cancer diagnosis — but the atmosphere between the royal couple suggested otherwise.
Moreover, Kate and William were photographed en route to the Horse Guards Parade with their three children — who are known for their privileged upbringing — but their expressions appeared unusually somber, more fitting for a funeral than a festive public event.

Divorce rumors continue to haunt their marriage
According to body language expert Traci Brown, who spoke exclusively to Nicki Swift about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s seemingly frosty interaction at Trooping the Colour 2024, there’s actually nothing unusual about their behavior. “PDAs aren’t what the royals do,” she explained. “William and Kate aren’t acknowledging each other, but they seem happier than I’ve seen them in one of these balcony situations.”
To be fair, even King Charles III and Queen Camilla weren’t especially affectionate during the appearance. Meanwhile, behavioral expert Darren Stanton offered another perspective, suggesting Kate may have simply been nervous.
