Kate Middleton and Prince William are gearing up for their second public outing of the year—and yes, there will be cake for a special celebration!

Kensington Palace announced on February 20 that the royal couple will head to Pontypridd in south Wales on Wednesday, February 26. The visit comes just ahead of St. David’s Day (March 1), Wales’ national day of celebration, where they’ll connect with locals and get a firsthand look at daily life in the community.

The trip holds special significance: Pontypridd was battered by devastating floods during Storm Bert and Storm Darragh in December 2024, and the pair will meet residents who endured those challenges.

Their packed itinerary includes a stop at the historic Pontypridd Market, where they’ll chat with small business owners and even try their hand at making traditional Welsh cakes.

If anyone’s ready for the baking challenge, it’s Kate—the home chef famously whips up birthday cakes for her kids, George (11), Charlotte (9), and Louis (6). Let’s hope the royal trio approves of her Welsh cake skills, too!”**

“I really felt like I needed to get the sun. You need loads of water and loads of sunlight,” the Princess of Wales said in a conversation at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London on January 14, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Kate’s surprise appearance marked her first solo engagement in over a year. She had kept a low profile for much of 2024, following her announcement last March that she was undergoing cancer treatment.

In September, the Princess of Wales shared that she had completed her chemotherapy, and during her visit to the Royal Marsden in January, it was confirmed that she had received her treatment there.

Later that day, Princess Kate expressed her “relief” at being in “remission” and looked forward to a “fulfilling year ahead.”

A few days later, on February 3, the eve of World Cancer Day, the Princess shared a moving photo of herself enjoying the outdoors. “Don’t forget to nurture all that which lies beyond the disease. C,” she wrote beneath the picture of herself smiling in the woods, which was taken by Prince Louis. She also included the hashtag #WorldCancerDay.

Princess Kate made her first public appearance since announcing her remission from cancer when she joined Prince William at a ceremony marking Holocaust Memorial Day in late January.

Wales holds a special place for the royal couple, who lived there before and after their 2011 wedding while William worked as a search and rescue pilot at RAF Anglesey.

Their bond with Wales deepened when King Charles named William the Prince of Wales after his ascension to the throne in September 2022, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth.

Kate also became the Princess of Wales at that time, and the couple made a memorable visit to Wales as soon as they could, marking their first official outing after the Queen’s death.
